About the project: The 'prepared plantiano'
why would you need 88 keys to play a piano piece when some of them are not even used after all?
in the beginning i just thought it’d be funny to visualise how simple my new piece is by taking all the keys out that are not needed to play it. because it’s in c major, these are quite a lot of keys.. it looked like a holey cheese.
during the process of making the video i realised, taking keys out is also about minimising options. and reduced possibilities in a world full of options was always a very soothing thing for me. it is bringing order to my mind. the missing notes are not a lack of something, instead they’re adding a lot to the music.
